This Tom Brady interview on Howard Stern’s show is pretty fascinating. He always gets good answers out of his guests.

Of course they talked about the quarterback’s move from New England to Tampa, but the most interesting stuff involved his personal and home life, which we don’t know too much about. In something that should be reassuring to average schlubs like you and me, Brady told Stern about pulling back on his football commitments because his supermodel wife, Gisele Bundchen, asked him to devote more time to family responsibilities:

“At different times, like any married couple, things need to be changed. A couple of years ago, she didn’t feel like I was doing my part for the family. She felt like I would play football all season and she would take care of the house, and then when the season ended I would be like, ‘great, let me get into all of my other business activities, let me get into my football training.’ And she’s sitting there going, ‘when are you going to do things for the house?’ When are you going to take the kids to school and do that? That was a big part of our marriage that I had to check myself, because she’s like ‘I have goals and dreams, too.’ You better start taking care of things at the house. So two years ago, as it related to football, I had to make a big transition in my life to say that I can’t do all of the things that I wanted to do for football, like I used to. I have to take care of things with my family, because the situation wasn’t great. She wasn’t satisfied with our marriage, so I needed to make a change with that.

Her point was, ‘yeah of course this works for you.’ But it doesn’t work for me.”

It’s comforting in a way, not because he has marriage issues, but because him and Giselle went through the same shit everybody on this planet goes through. You can be the best quarterback of all time with endless amounts of money, and your wife is still asking you to commit to the family and various household responsibilities. We all, in fact, do have something in common with Tom Brady.

As a sidebar, my favorite Gisele moment of all time is when she said, “my husband cannot fucking throw the ball and catch the ball at the same time.” Find a woman who will do this for you:
