The gradual return of sports betting took a big step forward this past weekend at DraftKings Sportsbook when Bundesliga began its restart.

Players who opened the app to wager on the popular German soccer league saw more than just odds–they also saw the games.

DraftKings Sportsbook, along with competitor FanDuel Sportsbook, is now giving users carrying an account balance the ability to both bet on and watch all of the action.

This development adds to DraftKings Sportsbook’s rapidly expanding live streaming portfolio. Also available for streaming are table tennis and Korean baseball. In an attempt to highlight its streaming services, DraftKings is offering both new and current players a 50% profit boost that could tack an additional $250 of bonus money onto winning wagers.

Watching Bundesliga at DraftKings Sportsbook

DraftKings Sportsbook will stream Bundesliga action in its app through the conclusion of the season. Barring further delays, the schedule is slated to wrap on June 27.

Live streams will be available to players who have at an account balance of at least one cent in states such as Colorado, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Indiana.

Ultimately, this is a big deal. Both longtime bettors and those new to the industry know that the ability to closely follow along with the action is huge.

While bettors can follow select games on television, that’s not always the case. Prior obligations or a lack of access to a certain contest results in players having to incessantly refresh text-based or icon-based updates. We’ve all been there, refreshing an app every five seconds in an attempt to read about the latest play.

While steaming access to Bundesliga may not move the needle for huge betting audiences–particularly once more sports leagues return from coronavirus shutdowns–this implementation of technology bodes well for future access to more mainstream sports.

In fact, FanDuel announced in early March that it would begin streaming NHL contests.

Imagine locking in an out-of-market bet on a game not readily accessible for viewing. Instead of opening up a third-party sports score app or following along on Twitter, this technology could soon give same-app access to wagers and game action featuring popular domestic leagues.

Bundesliga Betting Markets

As for the present, Bundesliga registered significant betting attention in its weekend return. Beyond traditional game markets (game winners, totals), DraftKings Sportsbook offers players the following betting options:

  • Halftime/Fulltime
  • Winning Margin
  • Total Goals (Odd/Even)
  • Double Chance
  • Both Teams to Score
  • First Goal

Moreover, DraftKings Sportsbook also offers players a robust offering of player props. Among those props are:

  • First/Last Goal Scorer
  • Player to Score
  • Player to Score Multiple Goals
  • To Get a Red Card

As you can see, there’s no shortage of available markets to wager on at DraftKings Sportsbook. Now, those markets are paired with the ability to follow the live stream action.
