The Philadelphia Parking Authority is similar to death and taxes – inevitable. You’ll have to deal with these things at some point in life.

We’ve avoided the PPA over the last two months, as Philadelphia’s second-worst entity eased restrictions and enforcement during the Coronavirus pandemic. But now that we’re starting to come out of this thing, the PPA sees an opportunity to steal the money of hard-working residents look out for our safety and well-being and seems to be returning to normal operating procedures.

Here’s a blurb on the website:

PARKING UPDATE: Beginning Monday, June 1st, 2020, normal parking rates will apply at PPA operated Center City garages and select parking lots.  For up to date information on the PPA’s COVID-19 protocols and parking enforcement, please click here.

That protocol page hasn’t been updated since March 17th, but the PPA, in a totally out-of-character show of good will, is notifying locals of the pending policy changes, with these notes being placed on vehicles:

I’d assume this means we’ll start seeing tickets again on June first. Keep an eye on the PPA website and we’ll see if there are more specific bullet points posted soon. They relaxed meter enforcement during the pandemic, and other minor violations, but that doesn’t mean you can be a jerk and take a handicapped spot, or block fire hydrants or loading zones.

Common sense here, and we can all get back to business as usual, God willing.
