Brandon Brooks tore his other Achilles and is done for the year, as we wrote last night in yet another totally depressing 2020 blog post.

Matt Pryor is the obvious replacement, and the third-year lineman covered for Brooks last season after the shoulder injury he suffered in week 17 against the Giants. The Eagles also have Nate Herbig and rookie Jack Driscoll available if necessary.

But what if the Birds didn’t go with any of those guys and instead called up free agent Jason Peters instead? Peters did say last year that he’d be open to playing guard, with Matt Mullin at Philly Voice including the quote in a story published back in July:

“Yeah, I’m going to play as long as I can,” Peters said. “As long as I can do it, I’m going to go. Whether that’s tackle or guard, I can play all the way across the board.”

Last season, Peters was coming back from a torn ACL and MCL suffered during the Birds’ 2017 Super Bowl campaign. And if it looked like he lost a step, that’s like because he did. With another full year between himself and knee surgery, however, Peters feels rejuvenated.

“I feel better this year than I did last year,” he said. “Last year I was probably, if I had to give a take, like 60 or 70 percent, but I just tried to grind it out, just tried to help up win. Some games I played OK, some games I played shitty, so I’m looking to bounce back.”

Peters played 75% of the available snaps at left tackle last season, a spot that should be filled by second-year player Andre Dillard moving forward.

You tell me – Jason Peters at guard this year, yes or no?

Would you bring back Jason Peters to play guard in 2020?
