Welp, that was quite the weekend. Hope everybody is staying safe out there.

we saw myriad George Floyd demonstrations and protests nationwide, some that were peaceful and orderly and some that devolved into looting, rioting, and violence. Locally, Tobias Harris, Matisse Thybulle, and Malcolm Jenkins participated in the marches in Center City, and the Sixers offered this official statement:

STATEMENT FROM THE PHILADELPHIA 76ERS

Our black community and people of color continue to face racism, prejudice and injustice. It is unacceptable and we cannot and will not tolerate it in our community. Now, more than ever, we must strive for accountability, including ensuring that our community is treated with fairness, transparency and dignity.

We must stay united and strong during the conflict and hurt we are experiencing.

The 76ers are committed to using our voice and taking action to support and drive change that is long overdue.

For our city.

For our country.

For our future.

For each other.

#PhilaUnited

Looks like the Sixers were the only local team to offer this type of statement, which may or may not matter. Maybe some people are keeping track at home and then passing judgment from there. For what it’s worth, the NFL and NHL did offer league-wide statements that echoed what the Sixers wrote, though the NFL obviously got ripped on social by Colin Kaepernick supporters who disagree with the way the league handled the kneeling situation from a few years back.

Here’s video of Harris in Center City, if you missed it this weekend:

And here’s the Jenkins video:

Hello and good morning.
