John Kincade Out at 680 the Fan in Atlanta

Radio news on a Friday afternoon.

John Kincade, a local guy (Broomall), was let go from his Atlanta sports gig.

Here’s part of the writeup at Barrett Sports Media:

“Barrett Sports Media has learned that two big names in the world of Atlanta sports radio are out.

John Kincade, the longtime host of ‘Buck & Kincade’ which included Buck Belue, had been a staple in The Fan’s lineup since 2000. The show in fact held the distinction of being the longest running sports talk radio show in The South with more than 5,000 broadcasts produced by the two partners. Kincade started his career in Philadelphia with Sports Radio WIP and has since gone on to host national shows for ESPN Radio, and CBS Sports Radio. He also hosts “The BIG Podcast with SHAQ” with Shaquille O’Neal for Podcast One.”

Most people will be familiar with John because he still appears regularly on Angelo Cataldi’s show. His name ALWAYS comes up whenever there’s an opening in the Philadelphia market, and he generally gives us the same line every time, explaining that he’s happy in Atlanta and not necessarily looking to return to the region just yet. That could possibly be changing. He’s a Temple grad and went to Cardinal O’Hara and has a college-aged daughter. If I had to set the odds, I’d put money on Kincade to return to Philly at -225. Max bet is $50.

Obviously the contract status of various local talent remains unknown, but John would slide very easily into Angelo’s chair if Cataldi ever decides to retire. 97.5 the Fanatic would be smart to give him a look as well.

Note: John has previously appeared on our “Crossing Streams” and “It’s Always Soccer in Philadelphia” podcasts
