The Ricky Bottalico Phillies Postgame Live blowup has emerged as one of my favorite things about the 2020 Phillies.

Last night, he unleashed yet another majestic rant, and if you were paying attention to his Twitter throughout the evening, it was one that you probably saw coming from a mile away.

I present to you Ricky Bottalico: A Road to Eruption.

2:46 p.m.

Hey, the Phils are coming off of a good win on Tuesday night. The No. 1 pick of the 2016 MLB Draft is going to get the call up. So what if it took an injury to Kyle *bleeping* Garlick for it to happen? This is fun!

3:29 p.m.

Gotta do some show prep. Ricky fields a variety of important twitter questions, ranging from topics like Mickey Moniak’s ceiling to when the current general manager will be fired.

8:01 p.m.

Whoa. The Phillies build an early 3-0 lead against two-time reigning Cy Young Award winner Jacob deGrom, who exits the game with a hamstring issue after just 40 pitches. They’re going to trash Michael Wacha – he sucks now!

It’s going to be hard to work up the anger for a rant tonight. What a huge win this is going to be!

9:42 p.m.

Adam Morgan takes over for Zack Wheeler. A two-out walk sets up a game-tying double by J.D. Davis, who obviously uses some type of sorcery to make Adam Haseley completely miss the baseball up against the fence.

Bummer for Zack Wheeler, who gutted it out against his former squad. No worries, though. The Phils are a resilient bunch. They can still bounce back!

10:10 p.m.

With a runner on first and one away in the ninth, Hector Neris drops a baseball while on the rubber. It is a balk that moves the go-ahead run into scoring position. It is at this moment that I know the Phillies are going to lose the game. Ricky, a seasoned observer of Phillies baseball, also knows it.

10:13 p.m.

Oh, hell yeah. A double tweet at 10:13 p.m. after Neris blows the game. A wasted Wheeler effort, an uplifting win over deGrom spoiled, a 7.05 bullpen ERA, and a total mental breakdown from Neris, who again fails to slow negative momentum, is too much for Ricky. He needs two tweets to let it out. Upon sending the second, it becomes obvious that he’s going to bring the goods on the show.

Phillies Postgame Live

“Dropping a baseball on the mound. He just dropped it – you dropped – how about any, is there a different nightware we could live through? Because I’d rather do that than watch Hector Neris drop a stinking baseball on the mound. What’s, what is really going on?”

Nails it. Beautiful.
