Justin Herbert played really well in his NFL debut.

22 for 33, 311 yards, one touchdown, one interception, and a rushing score as well. His Chargers lost to the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs in overtime. No shame there.

The reason he played is because starter Tyrod Taylor was dealing with a “chest injury,” which we now know was screwed up by an injection-gone-wrong:

That’s insane. This makes the Eagles medical staff look like soft tissue experts. Talk about a monumental screw up. Now Schefter says that doctors are advising Taylor not to play, “indefinitely,” because of the punctured lung.

Not to make light of the situation, but this tables any sort of quarterback controversy out there in Los Angeles. Head coach Anthony Lynn said he was going with Taylor as his starter instead of Herbert, which didn’t seem to resonate well. Now he doesn’t have a choice, since the TEAM DOCTOR ACCIDENTALLY PUNCTURED HIS STARTING QUARTERBACK’S LUNG.
