Right, so remember how the NFL was reportedly looking to reschedule Sunday’s Steelers/Titans game to Monday or Tuesday night instead? We thought the Eagles might benefit from playing Pittsburgh on a short week due to that schedule change.

No dice, according to the NFL, which decided to postpone the game instead.

From ESPN:

The Pittsburgh Steelers and Tennessee Titans game will not be played during Week 4 following two additional positive tests among the Titans, the NFL announced Thursday.

According to a statement from the NFL, one additional Titans players and one personnel member have tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday. That comes after four players (starting nose tackle DaQuan Jones, linebacker Kamalei Correa, long-snapper Beau Brinkley and practice squad tight end Tommy Hudson) and five team personnel members tested positive earlier this week.

“The decision to postpone the game was made to ensure the health and safety of players, coaches and game day personnel,” the NFL said in its statement. “The Titans facility will remain closed and the team will continue to have no in-person activities until further notice.”

How are they going to reschedule this game? The bye weeks don’t match up and the NFL didn’t build in any additional cushion for situations like these. They’re gonna have to come up with some sort of midweek solution, I guess, which isn’t ideal.

Assuming everything returns to normal for week five, the Eagles will have to play the Yinzers coming off a bye week. Those no good, Sheetz-visiting, Primanti Brothers-eating, pop-drinking Yinzers. They’ll be extra rested while the Birds have to fly back from San Francisco and get their act together. It’s gonna be UGLY in week five, so ugly that I might climb the Cathedral of Learning on the Pitt campus and swan dive off of it.
