The NFL levied a round of fines not too long ago because some organizations weren’t taking COVID-19 protocols seriously. Players and coaches were not keeping their masks on and/or just ignoring the safety measures entirely.

Jon Gruden was one of the previous violators, and his Raiders are now a repeat offender, so the NFL stepped in and dropped the hammer on Vegas:

The NFL is fining the Las Vegas Raiders $500,000 and coach Jon Gruden $150,000 in addition to stripping the franchise of a sixth-round draft pick for COVID-19 protocol violations related to Trent Brown‘s positive coronavirus test in late October, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Monday night.

The escalated fines and loss of a draft pick were due to the Raiders being a repeat offender in terms of failing to meet COVID-19 protocols.

The Raiders were previously fined $100k and $250k because Gruden wasn’t properly wearing a mask on the sidelines. They also had ten players fined for doing a charity event and failing to wear masks. And the Trent Brown situation mentioned in the blurb involves a pregame IV mistake that resulted in an overnight hospital stay. He has twice been on the reserve/COVID-19 list this season.

So yeah, they took a draft pick. 6th rounder. Jason Kelce was a 6th rounder back in 2011 so you never know what you might stumble upon in the later rounds of the draft.
