We interrupt your Carson Wentz and Jalen Hurts programming to report some positive Philadelphia Eagles news.

After 10 seasons and a Super Bowl ring, Brandon Graham earned his first Pro Bowl nod.

He’ll join Jason Kelce and Fletcher Cox as the Birds’ representatives this season. Here he is with his family learning about his selection:

It’s a great sports story, not just a local thing. Here’s a first round draft pick who was slow to start, got injured, and was labeled a bust by some people in this town who lamented the fact that the Eagles didn’t take Earl Thomas instead. Then he rebounded with a strong 2012 and developed into a steady defensive end, logging 9.5 sacks in 2017 and forcing the fumble that all but assured the Birds of their first Super Bowl in franchise history.

Graham has seven sacks this year, at age 32, plus 14 QB hits, 12 tackles for loss, and a couple of forced fumbles.

He’s quoted on the Eagles’ website:

“This is that much more special to me because I know how much work was put in years before and even this year, knowing that my time is almost running out. It’s on me to go out and do it. We went out there and did it,” Graham said over the phone earlier this afternoon.

….

“I got a real level of appreciation for making it because I know it’s not easy. You know, being an alternate is cool, but you have to hope that people back out. For this one to be outright, in a year where there’s no alternates because there’s no game because of COVID, to get that call, I really appreciate this,” Graham said. “We worked our butts off this whole offseason and during the season. To get that call is going to boost me even more for the next two games to try to go make it happen and get into these playoffs.”

Good for BG, who has really busted his ass for this city and this fan base. He deserves it.
