Mike Missanelli is to Philly what Haiti is to Wyclef, and now he’s on board for another year… OUTRIGHT!

Sources tell Crossing Broad that the 97.5 the Fanatic PM drive host has extended his contract through the end of 2021, keeping him in the seat he’s held down for a decade now. This isn’t a long-term deal, but was explained to us as being an “option” that was exercised.

This seems like a no-brainer move for the Fanatic, despite some recent hiccups. We’re told that Beasley Media Group wasn’t thrilled with Mike’s recent headphone throwing incident, and that his frequent politic talk on the air and on social media was becoming an issue, with callers emailing the station to complain. Beasley explored some other options with the 2 to 6 p.m. shift, but ultimately re-upped with their most successful and most well-known host.

In recent months, Mike’s Nielsen numbers are down, with the duo of Jon Marks and Ike Reese at WIP defeating him six times over the last ten books. Of course, we don’t have the streaming or television data, so we don’t know how many people are listening to Mike online or watching his NBC Sports Philadelphia simulcast. Nielsen is a scam anyway, so take all of that with a grain of salt.

But Mike is a 97.5 staple and it always made sense from a business perspective to have him continue in the PM drive slot alongside Tyrone Johnson and Natalie Egenolf. He’s the 97.5 host who carries the most weight and generates the most advertising revenue, and the powers that be feel as though the political talk will die down post-election, which will result in things getting back to normal from 2 to 6 p.m.
