How about a baseball post?

The Phillies, who still exist, are reportedly showing interest in Marcus Semien:

Semien, now 30, hit free agency after six seasons with the A’s.

His 2020 regular season numbers don’t pop, but he had a strong playoff performance, logging 11 hits and four RBI in seven games against the White Sox and Astros. He had a .891 OPS in the Chicago series and 1.344 OPS against Houston.

In 2019, he was All-MLB second team at short stop, finished third in American League MVP voting, and named a Gold Glove finalist. That season he batted in a career-high 92 runs, hit a career-high 33 home runs, and finished with a career-high .892 OPS. Prior to that year, he was a relatively pedestrian player on a team that didn’t turn a hard corner until 2018.

Phillies fan consensus seems to be a preference to bring back Didi Gregorius, so we’ll see what happens here. This is a flicker from the otherwise ice cold hot stove. A little bit of a spark to warm our otherwise benumbed baseball bodies.
