Let’s get it back to the Eagles.

They actually signed a free agent! Huzzah!

It’s not the safety we suggested, Malik Hooker, but it’s Super Bowl winner Andrew Adams, who played for the Bucs in 2020.

Zach Berman was first on the news:

Adams played two seasons with the Giants before moving to Tampa, where he appeared in 43 games, most recently as a backup and special teamer. He started the majority of his Bucs games in 2018 and 2019, and played behind the combo of Antoine Winfield and Jordan Whitehead this past season, only logging 23 defensive snaps but playing the fourth-most special teams snaps (297, 65%).

He actually had a tryout here in 2018, and came in briefly before winding up with the Bucs. Adams was an undrafted free agent in 2016, out of UConn, and worked his way into the 53-man roster after starting on the Giants’ practice squad.

But yeah, this is what we would expect from the Eagles. Cheap depth, or one-year ‘prove it’ type of deals. They’re not gonna make a blockbuster addition because they don’t have the cap space to do it. They needed safety help and Adams fits the bill.
