After an 8-3 drubbing that never felt as close as the scoreline would otherwise indicate, Shayne Gostisbehere took to his seat alongside Oskar Lindblom and offered up some of the most honest and forthright commentary you’ll find about this Philadelphia Flyers team.

“I’m not gonna lie, it’s not like we’re losing games by a goal. We should be winning games that we should be better against weaker teams. But, right now this team has really lost its identity from where we were at the beginning of the year to where we are now. It just sucks right now. We’ve gotta find something here, because we’re too good of a team to let it just squander it away. We owe it to our goaltenders. We owe it to these older guys on this team. It’s just unacceptable.”

He also admitted his team’s play hasn’t been good enough:

But the biggest response of the night came in response to a question I asked about whether or not the constant shuffling of defensive pairings has caused the issues this team has had in their defensive zone:

Gostisbehere’s answers gave insight into the frustration being felt in the locker room. While there are some who believe this team has quit on the coach or their season, the case can be made that it’s more on the collective group making poor decisions and the same dumb mistakes than anything else. Anthony will have more on that Friday morning.
