There have been a lot of regrettable moves in Philadelphia sports history.

Drafting Jahlil Okafor. Signing Andrew Bynum. Passing on Justin Jefferson for Jalen Reagor.

And the worst one of all:

NBC Sports Philadelphia laying off Derrick Gunn. How dumb was that?

Gunner is popular in town, and has a strong following even in his post-RSN days, but now he’s linking up with the JAKIB Media folks for some NFL Draft coverage.

Here’s the press release:

PHILADELPHIA – April 22, 2021 – JAKIB Media Partners announced today a talent contract with Derrick Gunn, the premier Eagles reporter. Launching across the JAKIB Media Network during the upcoming NFL Draft, Gunn will host DRAFT TAKES w/ DERRICK GUNN! YouTube will be the exclusive video platform for the show and other NFL Draft content will be utilized across the growing sports platform.

DRAFT TAKES w/ Derrick Gunn will debut on NFL Draft Night, April 29 and air as part of JAKIB Media’s extensive draft coverage on YouTube and air exclusively on the JAKIB Media Network.

“Derrick Gunn is a Legend in Philadelphia” said Joe Krause, Owner of JAKIB Media. “There can be no Eagles draft in Philadelphia without Gunner.”

DRAFT TAKES w/ Derrick Gunn will bring the real inside perspective, in-depth knowledge, special guests and insight that only Gunn can provide following each Philadelphia Eagles draft selection in 2021.

Derrick’s new Podcast “Gunn on One” has enjoyed great success and Philadelphia Sport’s Fan’s enjoyed his work on “CBS Odds On” during the 2020 football season.

This is something I would probably check out. You? Good to see Gunner active around draft time.

Keep an eye on JAKIB Media, which is doing interesting things in local sports media. They run Eytan and Harry’s daily show (The Middle) and just added the football show (Birds 365) with John McMullen and Jody Mac. In the interest of full disclosure, I’ve been a guest on both shows.
