Sixers vs. Mavericks Betting Prediction (April 12, 2021)

The Philadelphia 76ers began their current four-game road trip with a bang in a dominant 106-96 win over their longtime rivals the Boston Celtics. However, their momentum was short-lived as they were held in check three nights later as Zion Williamson shined in a 101-94 win over Philadelphia. The Sixers put any worry to bed on Sunday by way of a 117-93 blowout of the depleted Oklahoma City Thunder. Philadelphia will now face their toughest test in the fourth and final game of this road trip against the Dallas Mavericks before they head home for four straight games.

The Dallas Mavericks are 6-2 in their last eight games, with their most recent victory coming against a Milwaukee Bucks squad missing reigning MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo. However, that momentary bliss evaporated a few days later as the San Antonio Spurs —who are in the midst of a hotly-contested battle for the final playoff spot with the Memphis Grizzlies— dished out a 119-117 loss to the Mavs.

Will Dallas get back to their winning ways or will Philadelphia finish their road trip on a positive note?

Sixers vs. Mavericks Odds

Here’s the line for the Sixers and Mavericks at DraftKings Sportsbook:

    • Spread: Sixers -2.5, Mavericks +2.5
    • Moneyline: Sixers -137, Mavericks +116
    • Total: 219

And here are the current best available odds for the Sixers (may not display on Google AMP pages):

Bets We Like With a Sixers Win

FiveThirtyEight gives the Sixers a 50% chance of winning with a Pick ‘Em point line. The oddsmakers are a bit more bullish on Philadelphia’s chances, with the Sixers’ implied win probability based on the moneyline at 59%.

Sixers Win and Under 223.5 Points (+175, DraftKings Sportsbook)

The Philadelphia 76ers are 4-2 over their last six games, including three of those four wins having come on the road. It’s worth noting that within that stretch came the return of franchise center Joel Embiid, who had missed three weeks with a bone bruise in his knee. In the four games he’s played since returning, the Sixers are 3-1 and have won those three games by an average of 14.3 points per game.

As for the under, it’s worth noting that the total has gone under in each of Philadelphia’s last four games, including the last three on the road and the lone home game coming against the Western Conference’s Memphis Grizzlies. Dallas saw the total go over in their last game, but prior to that saw the total go under in four consecutive games, all of which landed under 223.5 points.

If you’re planning on a Sixers moneyline bet, it could be worth adding the under 223.5 point market to a same-game parlay for a better payout.

Bets We Like With a Mavericks Win

Mavericks Win and Under 223.5 Points (+240, DraftKings Sportsbook)

The Western Conference has quite the battle going for the seventh and eighth seeds, the final two spots to qualify for a playoff berth. The Mavericks’ recent 6-2 stretch has been critical in creating a bit of space above the fray, as their 29-23 has them on somewhat firm ground in seventh place in the West, 2.5 games up on the Memphis Grizzlies. It’ll be critical to Dallas to continue their winning ways lest they fall into the battle being waged below them. The eighth-place Grizzlies are just one game up on the Spurs, two games up on the Golden State Warriors, and three games up on the Pelicans.

If there was one positive for Mavericks to take away from a two-point loss to the San Antonio Spurs, it was the excellent play of Kristaps Porzingis, who dropped a team-high 31 points and pulled down 15 rebounds. Meanwhile, point guard Luka Doncic put up 29 points to go with 7 assists and 3 rebounds. If Dallas hopes to contain Joel Embiid, Porzingis will have to build off Sunday’s performance and play his best two-way game of the season.

The aforementioned scoring trends around both teams holds in this scenario, so if you’re planning on a Mavericks moneyline wager, add the under 223.5 point market.

Bets We Like Independent of Outcome

Ben Simmons and Donovan Mitchell 1+ Dunk Each (+300, FOX Bet)

FOX Bet is offering a low-cost, high-upside bet boost ahead of tonight’s NBA action featuring a former Rookie of the Year and his runner-up. Ben Simmons will be engaged in a must-see battle with Luka Doncic, while Donovan Mitchell will be taking on the lowly Washington Wizards. Each guard should have plenty of opportunities to slash and get into the restricted area via the fast break, finishing with a jam.

Note: A $50 max bet would pay out $200 if each player records at least one dunk.

Joel Embiid Over 37.5 Combined Points and Rebounds (-110, BetMGM)

The Sixers have certainly rediscovered their championship-contending form since center Joel Embiid returned to the lineup. While Embiid has been a beast on the boards, pulling down nine rebounds in each of the last two games, he’s been struggling from the field. In his first game back, he shot just 6-14 from the field and 0-4 from deep. In his next two games, he hit just 14 of 35 shot attempts. However, in Saturday’s contest, Embiid appeared to rediscover his shooting form, going 10-17 from the field.

It’s also worth noting that Embiid combined for 36 combined and rebounds in just 27:14 of game action. Given the stiffer competition the Sixers will face against Dallas, expect Embiid’s minutes to increase and his free throw attempts to jump back up into double digits.

Sixers vs. Mavericks Pick

Pick: This game could come down to the final possession, but as long as Joel Embiid is in the lineup, the Sixers should pull this one out. Take the Sixers to Win and Under 223.5 Points. Also, consider getting in on the Joel Embiid to record over 37.5 points and rebounds combined.
