We always appreciate Charles Barkley for his bluntness and candor.

Sometimes we agree with him and sometimes we don’t, but he definitely won’t shy away from an opinion.

In an article from Jade Scipioni at CNBC, Barkley goes off on people who won’t get the COVID-19 vaccine:

“Yes, I’m vaccinated,” says NBA legend Charles Barkley. “Everybody should be vaccinated. Period.”

“The only people who are not vaccinated are just a–holes,” he says.

The 58-year-old NBA Hall-of-Famer says he personally thinks sports leagues should force players to get vaccinated.

“Can you imagine if one of these guys that are not vaccinated, if they get one of these players’ kids, wives, girlfriends, moms and dads sick and they die over some unnecessary conspiracy bulls—,” Barkley says. “I think that would be tragic.”

Barkley says playing in a professional sports league is just like having a corporate job.

“There’s s— you can’t do at work and there’s s— that have to do at work,” he says. “So every workplace has rules and I think one of the rules [should be] that guys have to be vaccinated.”

The article does not source these quotes. I have no idea where or when Barkley said this. Perhaps it was on a recent CNBC appearance and they just failed to mention that.

For some added context, the NBA and Major League Baseball are not requiring players get the COVID vaccine, so it’s similar to the rule set the NFL is working from. We’ll see what happens as we get closer to the season, with the NFL serving as a blueprint right now, or sort of a trial run, in terms of beginning a new campaign with the vaccine currently available and whether or not unvaccinated players cause any issues with scheduling.
