Howard Eskin thinks Cole Beasley is a “flat out dope” because he won’t get the COVID vaccine. The Bills receiver has found himself the poster child for the anti-vax portion of NFL players, and today he began his press conference at training camp with a lengthy statement about COVID and all of that:

Alright.

So his issue is less about the vaccine and more about how the NFL is approaching this… I think. He believes the league is being a little disingenuous with players and nudging them towards vaccination. He doesn’t really get into specifics, but more or less thinks it’s unfair that guys are being cornered to get something they might not know about.

Which is kind of silly, isn’t it? There’s a ton of information about the vaccine out there. Plenty of data. What more is Cole Beasley looking for? It’s not like the vaccine came out yesterday. Most people have been full vaxxed for 2-3 months now. I got my second shot in May, inside the lifeless husk of a Montco Sears store that went out of business.

And at the end of the day, it doesn’t really matter if the NFL is being fair or not, because the NFL is a private sector company that can set the conditions of employment. That sounds shitty from a human perspective, but we don’t really know how the league and individual teams are handling interactions with their players. Howie Roseman said today the Eagles have been trying to educate and support their guys, but who knows if that’s what’s happening league-wide.
