Crikey! Talk about a kick to the old didgeridoo.

For a second exhibition tune-up, Team USA lost to an inferior opponent on the international basketball court, falling to the Australian national team, 91-83.

It was less Dream Team and more the Sleep Paralysis Team as the USA continues to lumber its way into the Olympics. But our sweet boy Matisse Thybulle continues to put his claim in as the best Australian player on the 76ers with a stellar showing against the best (available) competition the USA had to offer.

Thybulle finished the night with 12 points, 3 steals and 2 blocks and ensured Kevin Durant would be seeing him in his nightmares for the rest of the Olympics.

Thybulle has shined for Australia not only on the defensive end in two exhibition games, but he has actually NOT been a liability with the ball in the hands.

When was the last time you saw him confidently hit a three off the dribble for the Sixers?

Wasn’t this why it was important for Ben Simmons to be playing in these Olympics? To get reps like this against high-level competition, to gain more confidence in the offseason, when he mysteriously forgot how to shoot a basketball? It would have been nice to see him starring for this Australian squad instead of going to Wimbledon with his girlfriend and showcasing ugly horse clothes for Ralph Lauren.

Because while Simmons is busy nonchalantly modeling a hideous jacket that probably costs more than one of my mortgage payments, Thybulle was ensuring Dame Lillard’s people would try to have this moment scrubbed from the internet for all of eternity.

At least someone is getting better this offseason.

It should be fun to watch Thybulle and Lillard go against each other in practice next season while Simmons publishes whiny social media posts about Portland fans for a change.

Here are a few more Thybulle highlights from last night’s win to whet your appetite, or at least boost his trade value:
