Bucks vs. Suns Player Prop Picks (NBA Finals Game 5)

What a difference a couple of games make. After two decisive victories in Phoenix, the question wasn’t if the Suns would hoist the Larry O’Brien trophy, rather when. However, two games in Milwaukee, including a Game 4 collapse by the Suns, have fundamentally altered the potential outcome of this series. Tied at two games apiece in this Best-of-7 series, the NBA Finals is now effectively a Best-of-3 series with Phoenix holding home court advantage.

The Phoenix Suns won the first two games of the NBA Finals by a combined 23-point margin, only to drop two results in Milwaukee by a combined 26 points. However, Game 4 was an absolutely gutting loss. Chris Paul followed up Devin Booker’s horrific Game 3 performance with an even worse 10-point showing in which he shot 5-13 from the field. CP3 also turned the  ball over five times, marking the third consecutive game in which he recorded at least four giveaways. A critical late turnover wasted an incredible 42-point bounce back performance from his backcourt mate Devin Booker. Jae Crowder (15) and Cameron Johnson (10) also posted double-digit scoring totals in the loss.

The Milwaukee Bucks saw Khris Middleton post a playoff-high 40 points in their Game 4 victory, continuing his maddening trend of inconsistent scoring, though in this case for the better. Giannis Antetokounmpo (26), Brook Lopez (14), Jrue Holiday (13), and  Pat Connaughton (11) all scored in double figures. The key question ahead of Game 5 is whether the Bucks can get a similar performance from Middleton on the road.

Which team will take a critical 3-2 lead in this series?

Game 6 Best Bets
Jrue Holiday to Score 20+ Points (-120, BetMGM)
Devin Booker to Score 30+ Points and Make 3+ Three-Pointers (+220, FanDuel Sportsbook)
Pat Connaughton to Make Over 1.5 Three-Point Field Goals (-222, FOX Bet)

Giannis Antetokounmpo and Devin Booker to Each Score 25+ Points (+100, FOX Bet)

Whenever there’s an opportunity to double your money in on a market based around two of the best players in the NBA Finals, you have to consider it. In the case of this “Double Your Money” promo from FOX Bet, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Devin Booker are the focus.

Giannis Antetokounmpo is typically the player who sees 20+ field goal attempts per game, save for the occasional Khris Middleton explosion, as was the case in Game 1 and Game 4. However, it’s worth noting that Antetokounmpo has scored at least 26 points in each of the last three games and at least 25 points in 11 of his last 13 games overall.

Devin Booker is the most gifted scorer in this series, with the ability to flip a game on its head in mere minutes. Although he had a horrific Game 3, he’s coming off a stellar 42-point performance in Game 4. Booker has cored at least 27 points  in three of the four games in this series and at least 25 points in 10 of his last 16 games, including five of his last seven contests.

Given the way Milwaukee force feeds the ball to Giannis and the fact that Booker will be playing at home, this is a solid bet to double your money.

Chris Paul to Score 20+ Points (-155, FanDuel Sportsbook)

If there’s a player who is bound to come out playing like a man possessed on Saturday night, it’s Chris Paul. After Twitter was full of “Point God” memes through the first two games of the series, he was demoted to a demigod in Games 3 then to a mere mortal in Game 4. A late turnover in Game 4 ultimately doomed his team and squandered an opportunity to take a 3-1 series lead.

Paul shot just 5-13 from the field en route to 10 points on the night, his lowest total since posting eight points in Game 6 of a first round series against the Los Angeles Lakers. CP3 scored 19 points in Game 3 and averaged 27.5 points in the two games that took place in Phoenix. As such, we expect Paul to bounce back in a big way.

Khris Middleton to Make Over 2.5 Three-Point Field Goals (-140, BetMGM)

Khris Middleton is perhaps the most perplexing player in this series, posting some of the most inconsistent scoring totals throughout the postseason. In his last two series, he’s averaged 24 points per game. However, a deeper dive into the numbers show a player whose scoring output is the basketball equivalent of Jekyll and Hyde: 15, 15, 38, 16, 26, 32, 29, 11, 18, 40.

The one area that has remained consistent over the last five games for Middleton is is ability to knock down shots from distance. Middleton has connected on at least 3 three-pointers in three of the four games in this series and in four of his last five games overall. In that time, he’s averaged 8.6 three-point field goal attempts per game. As such, we expect Middleton to put up at least seven attempts from deep on the road, hitting at least three.
