Suns vs. Bucks Player Prop Picks (NBA Finals Game 4)

We might have a competitive NBA Finals after all. Following two relatively dominant performances in Phoenix by the Suns, all eyes shifted to Milwaukee to see if the Bucks could salvage a victory and prevent the sweep it appeared this series was heading to. An absolutely historic NBA Finals performance from Giannis Antetokounmpo along with quasi bounce back games from Khris Middleton and Jrue Holiday were enough to help the Bucks get past a Suns team that had no real standout star in Game 3.

Milwaukee had to be encouraged in Game 3 by Jrue Holiday’s 21-point performance, in which he shot 8-14 from the field and 5-10 from beyond the arc. Khris Middleton didn’t play quite to the level his team will need going forward, but he posted the team’s third-highest scoring total with 18 points. However, the story  of the game was the play of the best player in the series. Two-time league MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo became just the second player in NBA history to record back-to-back games with 40+ points and 10+ assists:

The Phoenix Suns had a catastrophic second quarter which saw them flip a three-point first quarter lead into a 15-point halftime deficit. Suns superstar guard Devin Booker had a horrific Game 3, shooting just 3-14 from the field, including 1-7 from downtown. Point guard Chris Paul and center Deandre Ayton combined for 37 points, while forward Jae Crowder dropped 18 points. The Suns will need more out of Booker in Game 4 if they’re going to earn the opportunity to close out the series at home in Game 5.

Game 6 Best Bets
Jrue Holiday to Score 20+ Points (-120, BetMGM)
Devin Booker to Score 30+ Points and Make 3+ Three-Pointers (+220, FanDuel Sportsbook)
Pat Connaughton to Make Over 1.5 Three-Point Field Goals (-222, FOX Bet)

Giannis Antetokounmpo to Be the Top Point Scorer of  the Game (-200, FOX Bet)

The undisputed MVP of the NBA Finals has been Giannis Antetokounmpo. While it’s true that Giannis’ squad has only walked away with one win in three games, it’s also true that the Bucks have run their offense through Antetokounmpo in a way that cannot be said for a standout player on the Suns’ roster. After making a shocking return to the lineup in Game 1, a game in which he scored 20 points on 6-11 shooting from the field, Giannis put up 22 and 23 field goal attempts in Game 2 and Game 3, respectively. He’s hit at least 14 of those attempts in each contest.

For as many mismatches as Phoenix can generate on offense, they haven’t found a player or rotation of players who can stifle Antetokounmpo thus far in this series. Given that Giannis has led both teams in scoring over the last two games with at least 41 points in each contest, it stands to reason he could do it again at home in Game 4.

Devin Booker to Record Over 31.5 Combined Points and Assists (-136, FanDuel Sportsbook)

If there’s one player who should have the motivation to perform exponentially better ing Game 4, it’s Devin Booker. The Suns guard had been in stellar form for his team throughout long stretches of the postseason leading into the NBA Finals, including a 27-point performance in Game 1 and an even more impressive 31-point showing in Game 2. In the latter contest, he shot 12-25 from the field, including 7-12 from beyond the arc.  The wheels came off in Game 3 as Booker made only three field goals and finished with a playoff-low 10 points.

It’s worth noting that prior to Game 3, Booker had combined for over 31.5 points and assists in three of his prior four games:

  • Game 5 v. LAC: 31 PTS, 3 AST (34 total)
  • Game 6 @ LAC: 22 PTS, 4 AST (26 total)
  • Game 1 v. MIL: 27 PTS, 6 AST (33 total)
  • Game 2 v. MIL: 31 PTS, 6 AST (37 total)

Booker played just 29:07 in Game 3 and it stands to reason he’ll see plenty of game action in what should be a closer game for the Suns on the road in Game 4. Given his ability to get hot and put up 28+ points and 5+ assists, consider getting in on Booker to record over 31.5 combined points and assists at -136 odds with FanDuel Sportsbook.

Khris Middleton to Make Over 2.5 Three-Point Field Goals (-130, BetMGM)

Of the three player prop picks we’d advise taking a look at, this one is admittedly the most tenuous. That’s due in large part to the erratic play of Milwaukee’s Khris Middleton. The up-and-down variance in his scoring totals is akin to glancing at the silhouette of an old wooden roller coaster. Sure, there are some high points, like a 38-point performance in Game 3 of the Bucks’ Eastern Conference Finals series against the Atlanta Hawks, but then theres the huge drop to a 16-point showing in Game 4. Then you arrive at the bunny hills at the end as the ride bobs up-and-down from 26 to 32 to 29 points before dropping to 11 in Game 2 of the NBA Finals and back up to 18 in Game 3. Needless to say, we don’t recommend betting on Middleton point totals.

However, one area in which Middleton has remained consistent this postseason is his ability to connect on three-point field goal attempts. In fact, Middleton is  coming off a 3-7 performance in Game 3 and has hit at least 3 three-pointers in three of his last four games. He’s done so in 9 of his last 15 games and in 12 of  20 playoff games overall. The thing to note, however, is that Middleton has hit at least 3 three-point field goals in six of nine games at home this postseason. Look for him to do so again on Wednesday night.
