Earlier this month, we noted that the Philadelphia Inquirer is adding a couple of women to the Flyers beat.

Joining the paper from AL.com is Giana Han, who is a 2019 Penn State graduate and spent the last two years covering Auburn sports. War damn Eagle!

And the Inky is also adding Olivia Reiner to their Flyers coverage, writing this in an email to staff:

“Olivia comes to The Inquirer after two and a half years with the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel as a multimedia reporter covering the Packers and Brewers. She has served as both field reporter and on-air personality, as well as producer and writer for multiple sports segments. The Philadelphia native just completed her coverage of the Tokyo Olympics for Gannett and previously covered the 2018 Winter Games for The Inquirer. Olivia is a graduate of Germantown Academy, and earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Northwestern University.”

The Inquirer also added a couple of editors who will be working remotely. They will have two editors based out of Chicago, one out of California, and the sports editor himself will commute back and forth from his place in Connecticut. He previously worked at ESPN and has permanent residence in the Bristol area. There might be a fifth editor also working remotely, but I’m not totally sure. I will check with “sources close to the situation.”

As for Reiner, her Linkedin profile says she graduated from Germantown Academy in 2014, and got her degrees in 2018. Go Wildcats. She interned for The Players’ Tribune and the New York Islanders, so she does have some hockey experience on her resume.

I’m told that more changes are coming to the Inquirer’s Flyers coverage, but for now, let’s give a warm Philadelphia welcome (back) to Ms. Reiner.

Edit –

Looks like she did some Flyers stuff back in the day as an intern for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
