We got vaccine action, yo!

The Flyers are gearing up for another season and antibody levels are high, as the franchise announced the team will be 100% vaccinated by the start of the season. In addition to the players, this includes all coaches and hockey operations staff.

Flyers GM Chuck Fletcher stressed on the Flyers website that the team will be vaccinated by the start of the 2021-2022 season.

“We’ll be fully vaccinated for the start of the season, for sure.” said Chuck Fletcher, General Manager and President of Hockey Operations. “We’ve had a great response from all staff and players. We look forward to having a much more normal season than last year.”

The Flyers will kick off their training camp next week on Wednesday, Sept. 22 with on-ice sessions beginning Thursday, Sept. 23.

In other good news, the team will welcome fans back to the Flyers Training Center in Voorhees, N.J., for training camp sessions. Health and safety precautions for fans planning to attend training camp will be released closer to the start of camp.

And in OTHER good news that definitely made our beloved Flyers beat writers squeal in delight (looking at you Russ, looking at you Ant) media will be allowed BACK into locker rooms this year. The NHL announced it will allow masked, vaccinated media members back into the locker room during the upcoming season. The league is requiring any person whose job or access requires them to be within 12 feet of players must be vaccinated.

The Flyers have limited media attendance during rookie camp Sept. 16 to Sept. 23. The franchise is hosting in-person media availabilities in the facility’s main press conference room and will also make press conferences available through Zoom for those who cannot attend in-person sessions.

Of course all of this access could change in the coming months, but for now the media will be welcomed back into the Flyers locker room for the 2021-2022 season.

The Flyers kick off their regular season with a home game against the Vancouver Canucks on Friday, Oct. 15.
