Lane Johnson sent a message to Eagles fans this week, thanking them for their understanding and support. He’d been dealing with what he calls “depression and anxiety” and has re-joined his teammates after missing three games.

Will he play Sunday in Las Vegas?

Head ball coach Nick Sirianni on that:

“We’re taking that day by day, just really excited he’s back in the building, back with his teammates and super excited to see his face every day.”

“He’ll be limited.”

Sirianni was asked a follow up about showing support for players going through these type of issues and said this, in part:

“The first thing with all of our conversations with players is that we want to start by connecting. Connecting has to go beyond what you do on the field; it has to go into your personal life, it has to go into family, and it has to go into anything. If you want to have that relationship with your players you have to have something beyond the football field. The connecting thing is so big for us. That’s for any tough thing they have to deal with. Mental health is no exception. Anything our players deal with, we can be there for him.”

As we reported a couple of weeks ago, there’s nothing wrong with Lane Johnson’s ankle. The issue had nothing to do with that, which Sirianni confirmed Wednesday, noting that Johnson is “limited” because of the three-week layoff, and his physical inactivity. Prior to his absence from the Kansas City game, Lane had played 100% of the snaps this season at right tackle.

If he’s cleared to play this weekend, Jordan Mailata will go back over to left tackle and Andre Dillard will be the LT backup.
