The Philadelphia Eagles will hope three extra days of rest and preparation will serve them well ahead of their trip to Las Vegas where they will face the Raiders. Las Vegas and interim head coach Rich Bisaccia will try to find a way to improve what has been a non-existent rushing attack against a Philadelphia defense that struggles to stop it but excels against the pass. Meanwhile, the Eagles will hope quarterback Jalen Hurts can get going in this one and take advantage of a vulnerable Raiders defense.

Let’s jump into this NFL Week 7 matchup with a look at the best Eagles vs. Raiders player props picks.

The Best Eagles vs. Raiders Player Props Picks

Derek Carr Under 286.5 Passing Yards

After watching Tom Brady start last week’s game red-hot in the first quarter against the Eagles through the air, it seemed impossible that he could remain under his passing yardage prop of 298.5 yards. After all, Brady finished the first quarter with 121 yards through the air and two touchdowns. However, the Eagles pass defense, which has been stingy with yardage all season, clamped down and somehow kept Brady under the total, albeit by a mere 1.5 yards.

The story in this one becomes Philadelphia pass defense, which ranks fifth in the NFL, yielding just 211.8 yards per game.  Aligning with the its 2-1 road record this season, the Eagles pass defense stiffens even more away from home, allowing just 171.3 yards per game, the second best mark in the league.

No quarterback that has faced the Eagles this season has topped 300 yards through the air. Brady was the closest, but his tally relied heavily upon that 121-yard first quarter. What makes the numbers this pass defense has put up even more impressive is the fact that it has earned these rankings despite having already faced the first, second, and fifth best passing teams in the NFL this season.  Brady, Patrick Mahomes, and Dak Prescott have all failed to top 300 yards against the Eagles in the early going, with both Mahomes and Prescott unable to even top Carr’s prop number for this one.

Carr has been impressive through the air this season, averaging the third most passing yards per game in the league (305.3). However, he has actually failed to top 210 yards through the air in two of his outings, establishing his bloated passing average largely on the back of four monster games. In fact, the Raiders have already played two overtime games this season and Carr threw for a combined 183 yards in just those extra periods alone.

Be sure to take a look at the best NFL Week 7 promos.

Take those efforts out of the equation and his per game average dips all the way to 274.8 passing yards per game, a number that is below this prop’s total and far less frightening knowing we have a strong pass defense in terms of limiting total yardage.

DeVonta Smith Longest Reception – Under 21.5 Yards

This could be a tricky game for the rookie wide receiver. Smith received his fewest targets as a pro in Week 6 with just four, catching only two balls for 31 yards. Now, his team has had an extra three days to prepare for a Raiders defense that is No. 10 against the pass, but the eighth worst against the run. Pile on top of that the fact that if Philadelphia head coach Nick Sirianni doesn’t make an effort to establish the run game soon, his fanbase is likely to turn on him. Even wearing a Ben Simmons Mister Softee t-shirt may not save him if Miles Sanders and Kenneth Gainwell don’t combine for 20+ rush attempts in a game soon.

So, here’s Smith, trying to establish himself as the star he seems bound to be for this team, getting boxed into a bad matchup this week. He has only caught a ball longer than this prop number in two games this season, with one of those ironically being the aforementioned Tampa Bay game, in which he had a 25-yard reception. That means in four of six games he has not hauled in a catch of 20+ yards.

It doesn’t get a whole lot easier when you look at the Las Vegas pass defense. After struggling to keep guys in front in Weeks 1 and 2 against Baltimore and Pittsburgh, this secondary figured a few things out. Since then. they have only allowed one catch by a wide receiver over 18 yards. And that catch was to Denver’s second option, Tim Patrick, last week. In other words, if you’re a team’s top option, as we know Smith is in this case, it has been difficult to get deep on the Raiders these days. Smith will likely have to work underneath in this one, something we know he has the technical skills and willingness to do.

Darren Waller – Anytime Touchdown Scorer

Things have quieted down a bit for Darren Waller this season, but that had to be expected after the monster numbers he put up last year. After catching 107 balls for 1,196 yards and nine touchdowns from the tight end position in 2020, he was inevitably going to become the focal point for most defensive coordinators this season.

Now, while on pace for “only” 88 catches and 1,008 yards (for a 16 game schedule, that is), Waller is still undoubtedly the focal point of this passing offense. He has at least four catches in each of his last five games, but he was targeted at least seven times in four of those outings and is averaging 8.8 targets per game.

Similarly, his touchdown totals are down a bit thus far, having scored just twice this season through six games. Last season, he had three scores at this point. However, Las Vegas knows that the Eagles are vulnerable against the tight end in the red zone and will surely give their best player several chances to make a big play in that area of the field.

The Raiders have gotten the ball to a tight end in the end zone in half of their games thus far and face a Philadelphia defense that has been solid against opposing tight ends between the 20s, but has struggled mightily of late near the goal line.

Philadelphia has given up five touchdowns to tight ends in the last four weeks with at least one scored in each of those games. Only one tight end has topped 50 yards against the Birds this season, but there’s clearly an issue when it comes to keeping the position out of the end zone. Waller is the perfect guy to have against a team in that current predicament.
