Joe Flacco is the Jets’ starting quarterback this week. What a turn of events. It appears as though the Mike White era has come to an end.

There’s an Eagles wrinkle here. When the Birds sent Flacco to New York for a 6th round draft pick, there was a condition attached to allow it to become a 5th rounder. To trigger, Flacco has to play at least 50 percent of the snaps in four games this season. We highly doubt this will happen, since Zach Wilson is on the mend.

Anyway, Flacco is not vaccinated. The Crossing Broad mystery source told us this in the summer and I never reported it because it seemed cheap. Didn’t seem to have any redeeming “news” value to it. It would have just sparked a big argument on our Facebook page.

But the news went public this week and Mediaite wrote about it:

Flacco arrived to his Wednesday press conference masked up, which promptly led reporters to inquire about his vaccination status. The quarterback proudly stated that he was not vaccinated and has his reasons for the decision.

“I definitely have my reasons,” the former Super Bowl MVP said. “I honestly probably like to talk about this topic more than anybody. It’s one of those things you debate all the time, but I’ve overall felt like it’s more of a distraction than anything. So I feel like to talk about it too much and give you all my beliefs is more of a distraction than anything. I think the most important thing is going to play a football game.”

If we’re putting together an anti-vax depth chart here, Aaron Rodgers is QB1. He’s backed up by Carson Wentz, and then Flacco is the 5th stringer, behind Lamar Jackson and “Kurt” Cousins. That’s not a bad group. They’d be throwing the ball to slot receiver Cole Beasley on the NFL’s “All Anti-vax” team.*
