Ryan Ellis played about 18 minutes in his return to action on Saturday night, but now he’s injured again:

Ellis played in the first three games of the season, then was sidelined with a lower body injury. He missed about three full weeks of action, then came back on Saturday night, and now here we are again.

Two weeks ago, on November first, Alain Vigneault noted that Ellis did not have a set back, but explained that the recovery was taking longer than expected:

“If I would have known prior to the road trip that he wasn’t going to play, we wouldn’t have brought him. We would have kept him here to have him do his rehab here, instead of him going through those late nights and etcetera. We thought that there was a possibility. That’s why we brought him, but it didn’t work out. It’s taken a little bit longer than we anticipated. I said day-to-day last week and now we’re week-to-week and hopefully we make some strides here in the next couple of days and he’s able to help us in the near future.”

The 30 year old joined the Flyers in an offseason trade with Nashville. He played a full 82 games during the 2018-19 year, then 49 games in 2019-20 and 35 last season.
