The Urban Meyer era has come to an end in Jacksonville. Two wins and 11 losses for the Jag-Wires.

That’s bad enough, but it was recently alleged that he kicked a player during warm ups, which is one of a number of reported transgressions, explained here by Michael DiRocco at ESPN:

The latest embarrassment was a report Wednesday in the Tampa Bay Times in which former kicker Josh Lambo alleged that Meyer kicked him in the leg while he was stretching in warm-ups before a practice during the week of the final preseason game.

League sources also confirmed to ESPN on Saturday an NFL Network report that Jaguars receiver Marvin Jones Jr. had to be persuaded to return to the team facility after leaving in response to Meyer’s published criticism of the wide receivers. Sources also said that Meyer and Jones had a heated exchange at practice after he returned.

And then you have the strength coach debacle and the video of him with the blonde woman in Ohio.

It’s pretty clear what the Jaguars need. They need an experienced head coach and LEADER OF MEN, who can earn the respect and trust of that locker room. They need somebody with a proven track record of winning in the National Football League. They need somebody who can take Trevor Lawrence under his wing and give him the confidence and motivation to thrive in DUUUUUVAL.

That man is Doug Pederson. It makes way too much sense. He’s already been spending a lot of time in Florida, and is destined for another NFL gig. He did a nice job helping Carson Wentz along, who was also a high draft pick that came into the league with super-high expectations.

Shad Khan knows what to do. He should bring in Doug and give him the control that Howie Roseman and Jeffrey Lurie didn’t allow. And then it’s on Doug to get those hires right and replicate the aggressiveness and confidence he showed during the Super Bowl run.
