The Cowboys lost at home on Sunday, crashing out of the playoffs in the Wild Card round. They’re now 4-11 in the postseason since 1996 and last won the Super Bowl during Bill Clinton’s first term. Windows 95 was brand spanking new back then.

After the San Francisco defeat, Cowboys fans pelted the refs with objects from the stands (this was presumably before they started beating the snot out of each other). During his postgame press conference, Dak Prescott made a quip about crediting the bozo projectile tossers:

Dak took a lot of criticism for this, and so he apologized on Tuesday evening:

The Cowboys had a lot of penalties in the game, and flubbed the final sequence, which featured a QB draw and attempt to spike the ball and set up a Hail Mary attempt. Instead, Prescott took too much time, didn’t hand the ball to the ref, and said ref barreled into a couple of Cowboy linemen while trying to get to the pigskin. The clock hit zero and the game was over.

Regardless of the frustration with the zebras, you can’t throw shit on the field. That’s a very clear overstepping of the arbitrary line, and it’s the same for the dopey Sixers popcorn thrower and the Nick Sirianni flower hurler. You can’t throw things at refs or players or coaches. Dak doesn’t seem like a bad guy; and so he apologizes here and does the right thing. All is now forgiven, as the Cowboys look to rebound in 2022. Perhaps NEXT SEASON is their season, but probably not.
