Wednesday afternoon, Keith Pompey added more to Sam Amick’s note that the Kings were pondering a trade for both Ben Simmons AND Tobias Harris:

Writes Keith at the Inquirer:

One source said Sacramento has considered packaging Buddy Hield, Tyrese Haliburton, Harrison Barnes, and two first-round picks for Simmons, Harris, and Matisse Thybulle. The source said the Sixers aren’t interested in that package.

Another source said the Sixers haven’t received a formal trade offer at this time. The source added that none of those talks has involved Thybulle or any of the Sixers’ other young players. Speaking of Thybulle specifically, the source added the second-team All-Defensive selection is close to being untouchable.

Listen, I’ve been buckled up since Daryl Morey told me to strap in during his Mikey Miss interview a couple months ago. I’m willing to waste a year of Joel Embiid’s prime if the Sixers can get a star for Ben Simmons that will make us immediate championship contenders. The NBA is the most reactionary league in sports and it takes just one disgruntled star to ask for a trade. But Daryl, come on. Matisse Thybulle untouchable? Over my dead body. There is only one untouchable player on this team and he just scored 50 while doing this:

Is there anything Daryl Morey loves more than potential? NFTs, Crypto, Matisse, Maxey, and fake Metaverse companies having an actual balance sheet. So far Maxey has worked out (thank God), but if the James Harden trade was reportedly held up because Daryl didn’t want to give up Maxey in the deal, that’s a cause for concern. Daryl feels like the guy in your Fantasy Football league who sends lopsided trades because he’s terrified to lose one. “Mike Williams had 2 TDs? Let’s see if Nick will give up Mike Evans.”

If this trade was offered, how was it not immediately phoned into the league office just to get the Tobias Harris contract off the books? Not to mention TWO first rounders? Unless they have crazy protections, pairing a promising combo guard on a rookie deal gives you the cap flexibility and the assets to trade for another star and surround Embiid for one last run.

Did someone say Do the Deal?
