Eagles nugget here:

Crazy that Cooks is only 28. It feels like he’s been in the league forever. Maybe we just forgot about him since he wound up in Houston and had a guy not named Deshaun Watson throwing him the ball.

Over the Cap says Cooks has a 2022 base salary of $12.5 million and a cap hit around $16 million, so the Eagles would give him a new deal if they moved for him. He becomes an unrestricted free agent after this year and is probably underrated at this point in his career. He’s actually had six 1,000 yard seasons in the last seven years.

The only thing about Cooks is that he plays similarly to what the Eagles have, or think they have, in DeVonta Smith and Quez Watkins. He’s smaller, much closer to the DeSean Jackson smurf mold than the bigger possession receiver mold, and they need the latter much more than the former. I don’t know if the Eagles see it that way necessarily, but the fan and media consensus is that you’re looking for a Mike Evans type (i.e. Drake London in the draft) and not trying to go redundant with another smaller and faster guy. And you’re giving up assets in a trade on top of that, so you gotta ask yourself if it’s worth it.
