The Pacers are 25-54 and have long since been out of the playoff picture. That probably explains why the Pacers are dead last in the league in attendance this season. We thought Indiana was a basketball paradise! Maybe they’re all home watching “Hoosiers” on DVD.

Embiid was quoted after the Sixers’ win over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday night as follows: “If it happens, great. If it doesn’t I don’t know what I have to do. I’ll feel like they hate me. I feel like the standard for guys in Philly or for me is different than everyone else.”
Ugh.
Let’s say Embiid is right, that the MVP voting is some sort of weird popularity contest. We don’t know much about how to become popular, but we’re pretty sure that whining, adopting a victim complex and actively slagging the people who are making the decisions on popularity ain’t the way to go.
As for the Philadelphia angle…well, we haven’t had many great players here. Allen Iverson won the MVP in 2001, the year he took the Sixers to the NBA Finals. Prior to Iverson, you have to go all the way back to Moses Malone (1983) and Julius Erving (1981) to find Sixers MVP’s. We don’t need to tell you how great the Sixers were in the early 1980’s. Neither the Sixers nor Embiid has progressed even to an Eastern Conference final in Embiid’s time here. Stuff like that matters.
It’s OK to be frustrated. It’s just not a great look to show it like that.
