Let’s get it back to the Eagles. Everybody is looking for schedule leaks, but the Let’s Go to the Phones boys have a source who already revealed the entire slate. Everybody else is just chasing.

Here’s an interesting nugget from Adam Caplan at Inside the Birds:

“The Ravens were trying to trade Chuck Clark during the draft. They talked to the Eagles. Our understanding was they were not interested in Chuck Clark at that point. If you look at a couple of things here, Anthony Harris is back in Philly for a reason. He knows the defense. Marcus Epps has been a good story development. Greg Cosell said he really played well last season. They want to give him a chance. Chuck Clark’s a decent player. He did get an extension but now has two years left. The money’s very reasonable. We were told during the draft they talked to the Ravens. We’re also told [Jalen] Reagor’s name came up and there was no offer. The Ravens definitely, from multiple sources, had interest in Reagor during that draft, but nothing got done.”

Some thoughts, in order:

  1. Clark is 27 years old. He has two more years on his contract at about $5 million per. He’d obviously be better than what they have now, but the Eagles are kicking the can down the road with another Anthony Harris season and we’ve heard now from multiple people that they’re high on Marcus Epps and think he can become a legit piece in the secondary.
  2. The Eagles should go back to the Ravens and ask again about Reagor. Sell them on the “change of scenery” story. He’ll be excellent in Baltimore! He just needs a chance. We’ll send him your way for a 6th rounder and a bag of footballs.
  3. FWIW, the Ravens had the 28th pick in the 2020 draft and took Patrick Queen, then went for J.K. Dobbins in the second. They took receivers Devin Duvernay in the third and James Proche in the sixth. MAYBE they would have went Reagor instead of Queen if the Birds didn’t scoop him up, but who knows? They also went out and used their 1st the following year on Rashod Bateman and spent a 4th on Tylan Wallace.

It’s a good post from Caplan and Geoff Mosher. Worth checking out. Some other nuggets in there.
