The Phillies took two of three in Seattle to improve to 14-17 on the season. They’re 6.5 behind the Mets in the NL East. Not great considering they went out and spent stupid money to improve the roster, yet look largely like the same club they were last season and the year prior.

Anyway, if you’re into self-loathing and torture, this upcoming slate is for you:

Good God.

As of Thursday, 5/12, the Dodgers, Mets, Angels, and Brewers are all leading their respective divisions. San Diego and San Francisco are 2nd and 3rd in baseball’s best division and the Braves are the Braves, even if they have a ‘meh’ record on paper.

If you tally it all up, the next seven teams on the schedule, through June 9th, have a combined record of 136 wins and 85 losses. That’s a 61.5% winning number. Absolutely brutal. If the Phillies can make it through that gauntlet in okay shape, they come out of it with six at home against Arizona and Miami, then five in a row at Washington. Is Joe Girardi going to be managing the club at that point? We shall see!

Plenty of time for Negadelphia, but we’ll end a short post on a positive note:
