I made a mistake yesterday. I said it was the worst day of the year on sports talk radio because the hosts go game by game through the Eagles schedule and pick their wins and losses. That’s actually today and not yesterday. Yesterday was the schedule announcement, which the boys at Let’s Go to the Phones had more than 10 hours early.

Anyway, let’s go through the schedule AND MAKE OUR PREDICTIONS:

  1. at Lions – WIN
  2. vs. Vikings – WIN
  3. at Commanders – LOSS
  4. vs. Jaguars – WIN
  5. at Cardinals – LOSS
  6. vs Cowboys – WIN
  7. at Steelers – WIN
  8. vs. Texans – WIN
  9. vs. Commanders- WIN
  10. at Colts – LOSS
  11. vs. Packers – LOSS
  12. vs. Titans – WIN
  13. at Giants – LOSS
  14. at Bears – WIN
  15. at Cowboys – LOSS
  16. vs Saints – WIN
  17. vs. Giants – N/A but a WIN (they rest starters because they’re already in the playoffs at 10-6)

11 wins and 6 losses it is! Our prediction is right on the spot. Whatever with the injuries. On paper, not knowing jack shit about what these teams will look in 2022 and 2023, we can safely say that the Birds are winning 11 games and going to the playoffs.

On a more serious note, you have to figure the Eagles always lose some game they shouldn’t lose and win some game they shouldn’t win. I’ve got the former coming in week 3 against Warshington and the latter in week 13 against the Giants. I just don’t see them winning four straight games to begin the year. 3-1 is definitely possible but they’ll slip up against either the Vikings or Commanders. Weeks 13 and 14 look like the upset weeks. Maybe they knock off the Giants at Metlife but lose to the Bears instead. That three game road trip feels like a 1-2 record.

Overall it’s not a bad schedule at all. Most of these teams have nothing at the QB position. You’re playing Dak twice, Aaron Rodgers, Kyler Murray, Matt Ryan, and Trevor Lawrence? Otherwise there’s a lot of turnover at the QB position on these teams. Who knows how Carson will look in DC? Same with whomever plays for the Saints, Justin Fields in Chicago, lame duck Daniel Jones, and the Pittsburgh and Houston games.

They can win 10 or 11 games. Shit, they won nine last year, so it’s not out of the question to think they can hit double digits in the W column this season.

Go Birds. Super Bowl baby!
