Let’s see what’s going on in Yinzerville, via Brian Linder at Pennlive.com:

Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Butler/Beaver/Lawrence) is attempting to force Penn State University to provide information regarding the location and condition of the Joe Paterno statue by tying it as an amendment to Senate Bill 1283, which would provide the school’s funding for the fiscal year.

Bernstine, who is a Penn State graduate, announced his attempt in a release on Tuesday which was reported first by the New Castle News.

Bernstine said his amendment would require Penn State to report to the House and Senate the location of the statue, the method of storage and protection of the statue. He said the amendment would require the school to produce the report, and post it to the school’s website, in order to receive its annual funding.

Oh my God who gives a shit? Politicians are the absolute worst. This guy is threatening to withhold school funding because he wants a statue update. Don’t these people have anything better to do? Fix the roads! PennDOT has been working on the same stretch of 309 for a full year now. Get the job done! Useless politicians. Can’t stand ’em.

Anyway, the statue came down in July of 2012 so it’s been almost 10 full years now. Maybe it’s in a storage unit somewhere? No clue. We don’t need to re-litigate the Joe Pa thing, but the Inquirer reported at the time that it was loaded into a truck and driven out of Beaver Stadium. It could be anywhere! It could be in Scranton. It could be at Manco and Manco down the shore. Maybe it’s sitting at the top of Mt. Davis, which is the highest point in the Commonwealth. Maybe it was driven to the Reading Pagoda and stored in the basement.

If Penn State people wanna blow a gasket over the statue, that’s fine, and it’s kind of silly that the thing was just taken to an “undisclosed location,” but Bernstine is a bozo for putting this shit in a Senate Bill. Get these people outta office.

WE ARE!
