Garrett Stubbs is the honorary DJ of the Philadelphia Phillies. You want to know why he picked Dancing on My Own as the official anthem? Because it’s an absolute banger (Todd Zolecki at MLB):

“There’s no deeper meaning or backstory to it, other than it’s an absolute banger and we love singing it in the locker room,” Phillies catcher Garrett Stubbs said. “After a win, we play ‘Dancing on My Own,’ ‘Cold Heart’ and a couple other ones. We’ve been playing those songs since the beginning of the season. They come on in order after wins, so everyone knows what songs are going to play and everyone knows the words to those songs.”

Here’s a great video, ruined by Michael Barkann yelling nonsense about Joe Girardi while these dudes are pouring thousands of dollars of champagne on each other and could not give less of a fuck what Girardi is doing:

Somebody in the production room recognize a moment and cut his mic for God’s sake.

This is a perfect celebration anthem. The synth buildup. The first verse gives you a taste, but doesn’t blow its wad too quick. Tiesto dials it back some. Then the bass kicks in and that’s when all hell breaks loose. A perfect anthem to jump up and down and pour champagne all over each other:

This is the complete opposite of the Eagles having Dreams & Nightmares as their Super Bowl anthem, which is good. You can’t have an anthem that a majority of the team can’t sing the words to.

If the Phillies keep winning, anyone with a TouchTunes account is basically required to play Dancing On My Own and Cold Heart at the bars:

“I hope when we win a few games here in the NLDS, we’ll have Philly playing ‘Dancing on My Own’ and ‘Cold Heart’ around the bars,” Stubbs said.

I’m already leading by example:
