Look familiar? Ben Simmons with a good look at the rim and decides to dish it off instead:

That’s Luke Kornet defending him there. Serviceable regular season backup seven footer, but not exactly prime Mutombo. Ben had a 0/9/13 line in 26 minutes. He shot 0-3 from the floor and is averaging 4.2 points on 4.6 field goal attempts in January.

To his credit, he was beginning to show glimpses of the guy we knew in Philadelphia. Slinging great passes, grabbing rebounds, pushing the pace, and defending at a high level. His November and December were much better than what we saw in six October games, but with Kevin Durant on the shelf now, there is a massive drop off between the next two on the scoring chart, with Kyrie Irving averaging 26 and Nic Claxton chipping 12 per game. Without KD to pour in 30 a night, Simmons has to be one of those dudes to alleviate the scoring burden, and he didn’t in a big home game between the top two teams in the east.
