Eagles vs. Giants on Saturday night.

Do you hate the Giants as much as the Cowboys? Probably not, but there’s a generation of kids who grew up when Dallas stunk. They watched Eli Manning win two Super Bowls instead, and while Eli frequently got his ass kicked against the Birds, it was annoying to watch him win it all while we were still looking for our first one.

There have been some annoying Giants over the years, perhaps not as many as Dallas or New England put on the field, but in honor of these doofuses coming to the Linc for the divisional round, we did a loose sampling of readers and cobbled together this list of the most bothersome New York players of the last 25 years, in somewhat of an order here:

  • Jeremy Shockey
  • Michael Strahan
  • Tiki Barber
  • Victor Cruz
  • Amani Toomer
  • Eli Manning
  • Odell Beckham Jr.
  • Plaxico Burress
  • Jason Sehorn
  • Steve Weatherford
  • Justin Tuck
  • Brandon Jacobs
  • Osi Umenyiora
  • Jason Pierre-Paul
  • Kayvon Thibodeaux

Most people had Shockey #1 on their list. What an insufferable douchebag he was. The guy would catch a three yard pass and then celebrate like he moved the sticks on 4th and 26.

Michael Strahan ended up #2 because he was just a pain in the ass and somehow parlayed a football career into being a talking head on Good Morning America and Regis and Kathy Lee or whatever the show is called now.

Tiki Barber went 12-8 against the Eagles and had a 5.1 yards per carry average. He went to three Pro Bowls during that time period as well.

Eli isn’t necessarily a guy you hate, since he’s kind of aloof and not a horrible person. His post-playing media appearances are pretty good as well, but like we mentioned earlier, it was annoying to watch a dope like him beat the Patriots not once, but twice in the Super Bowl.

Victor Cruz? The Eagles always seemed to have trouble guarding him. Then you had to watch the salsa dance in the end zone. Barf. Amani Toomer was another one of those guys who always seemed like he was open on a slant for 10 yards and while Plaxico didn’t do a ton against the Eagles, he was just such an idiot that he became annoying by proxy.

Steve Weatherford was a lame-ass punter but talked a lot of shit about Philadelphia after his playing days. Said he’d never play here because our fans are mongrels and whatnot.

Kayvon Thibodeaux did snow angels next to an injured Nick Foles, so even though he’s a rookie he goes on the shit list as well. Jason Sehorn had the pick six in the 2001 playoffs, so he’s a shoe-in, and that crop of Osi/JPP/Tuck/etc were above-average guys who didn’t exactly kill the Eagles, but were bothersome over the years.

Overall, there aren’t a lot of Giants players that Birds fans seem to “hate,” again because they weren’t very successful against the Eagles. But they were annoying players from a division rival, so they go on the list.
