Holy shit. What a WBC to forget for Mets players. Edwin Diaz went down with what looks like a significant leg injury after celebrating the last out with Puerto Rico:

Man if you’re a Mets fan this sucks. Look at his brother’s reaction:

You kind of have to wonder what the future of the World Baseball Classic looks like. You have this injury, Ranger Suarez left early with forearm tightness, and Freddie Freeman went back to LA with a bum hamstring. I know the guys love to rep their country and they understand the risk of playing, but Steve Cohen just shelled out $100 million to keep his closer and now he might not even pitch year one. If I was him I’d make Francisco Lindor get his ass on a private jet stat. The Colombian pitcher just sailed one over Trea Turner’s head while I’m writing this. John Middleton might have to kidnap all the Phillies and bring their asses back to Clearwater. We have a World Series title to win!

Between this injury and Pete Alonso being completely un-coachable it’s going to be a long year in Queens:

Add this injury to whatever list Bill Gramatica and Kendry Morales are on:

Lets check in on Mets fans:
