Flyers interim GM Danny Briere was on 97.5 the Fanatic Friday morning.

John Kincade asked Briere if he wanted to comment on the wheelchair-tossing incident involving his son:

“We weren’t too proud and (were) shocked with what Carson had done,” Briere said. “He’s working hard to try and fix that mistake that he’s going to try to take responsibility for. Hopefully it makes him a better person moving forward.”

Carson Briere is currently suspended by Mercyhurst University.

Anyway, in terms of hockey stuff, Briere said this about the front office structure moving forward:

“As far as the interim tag, I think it’s the right thing to do. They want to go through the process and make sure they don’t make a mistake, and have Dave Scott and Dan Hilferty talk with me a little more and understand my plans. I think it’s the right thing to do. I want them to make sure. I want them to be (exact in) what they want in their choice. As far as the other positions, that’s more of a decision for Dave and Dan, what they’re going to do in the future, but I’ve heard the rumblings and the rumors just like everybody else and it sounds like they want to bring in a President of Hockey Operations as well, so that would be great to have another hockey guy in the building that can help us and give us some feedback. I’ve been in hockey since I was young and I’m a team guy first. I want good people around, people that can help us moving forward, so I would welcome that.”

Briere is working under the assumption that he’ll be running the NHL Draft, though he noted that it wasn’t explicitly stated to him.
