The Guy Who Bet $3.1 Million on the Eagles Should Send Xavier Legette a Christmas Gift Basket
You see this from ESPN the other day?
A bettor in Kentucky is backing the Philadelphia Eagles to defeat the Carolina Panthers on Sunday with a $3.1 million wager, one of the largest bets ever reported on an NFL regular-season game.
Circa Sports took the wager on the Eagles money line Thursday afternoon at -700 odds, which would net approximately $442,800. In response, the sportsbook moved its line on Philadelphia to -870 and lengthened Carolina to +650 as of Friday morning. Other sportsbooks have Philly as long as -675, with the Birds giving around 13 points to the Panthers on the spread marketwide.
This dude must have been dying all game long. Could you imagine?
He likely would have lost the bet if Xavier Legette had hung on to this pass:

There were 52 seconds left at that point. The TD and extra point would have put the Panthers up 23-22, and the Eagles would have needed to get into field goal range to try a Jake Elliott kick, which was not a guarantee. It’s the whole reason they found themselves in that mess in the first place, because he missed an earlier kick and then they punted instead of letting him try to ice the game from 54. So this guy in Kentucky needs to send Legette a Christmas gift. What do they make in Kentucky? Good bourbon. Send the guy a couple of tickets to the bourbon trail. Buy him his own horse barn. Maybe one of those bins that has an assortment of popcorn, like it’s caramel in one corner, cheese in the other, and then butter as the third flavor. Thanks, Xavier! Merry Christmas:
