In case you missed it during Saturday night's comeback victory by the Phils, there was a somewhat humorous moment when the Arizona "ball man" fielded a live ball on a hit down the left field line by Juan Castro in the 2nd inning. At first I thought it was the bullpen catcher or something, since I knew it was an adult fielding the ball. Then when they zoomed in you could see it was actually a very elderly man.
TheFightins.com has more info on it. I spent part of the day searching the web looking for an explanation of why the D-backs employ senior citizens for this job, but could not find anything. I'm just hoping the guy isn't mentally-challenged or something, or then I'd feel bad making light of the situation. In the meantime, laugh away.
