Scott Gomez is a Dick
Scott Gomez is the worst kind of person.
After several Flyers continued to weight in on sandgate, Gomez was asked what he thought about the Flyers being forced to leave the bench to get their skates sharpened: [Philly.com]
"They had some big names going [off], you're kind of hoping they don't come back. I saw Richards go over, and, yeah, you're kind of hoping in the back of your mind, hoping it's an injury."
I have been following sports a long time, and can count on one hand the number of times I heard a player wish injury upon another athlete. Most athletes, while they enjoy the advantage, will want to beat a team at their best… plus there's that whole not wanting other humans to get hurt thing too.
Gomez then said the Flyers were "stretching" and "searching for stories", and even if it was him that sprinkled the sand, he "wouldn't tell".
It should be noted that none of the Flyers were really complaining about sandgate, since ya know, they shut out the Canadiens 3-0.
"If there are [repercussions], good for them, I mean, it's the playoffs, and, hey, do whatever you can."
How about just shutting you out again?
Jaroslav Spacek weighed in as well:
"If they have a problem, maybe they can wear those skate protectors like the figure skaters and they can go and jump on the ice and it will never happen again," Spacek said.
That doesn't even make sense.
Perhaps, as always, Peter Laviolette had the best quote when asked about shaking it off for tonight's game:
"We'll be ready. We've got one of the best skate sharpeners in the league, so we're good to go."
