Welcome to The Wells Fargo Center

Wells_fargo_center
First it was the CoreStates Center, then the First Union Center, now the Wachovia Center, and soon it will be the Wells Fargo Center.

Puff Daddy, P. Diddy, Diddy Dirty Money eat your heart out.

The switch will be made on July 1st.

I guess this is the result you get when stadiums are named after large banks.  But it it just me, or does four name changes in 14 years sound a bit extreme?

MyFoxPhilly has the story.  I think you have to go with "The Well" for its nickname.

  1. i give up. no matter what the name of this building is from here on out, it’s just “the center”.
    RIP Wachovia Center.

  2. It was the comcast center for a short period of time, too, wasn’t it?
I still call it the Corestates center… lol.
I actually went to the open house they had when they first opened it, and I got an inaugural collectible coin that day… no clue where it is… I also got another inaugural coin when I went to the first ever world cup of hockey, USA vs Canada and sat front row on the glass. My uncle got us tickets… it was fuckin’ awesome…
I wish I still had the ticket… it was a giant ticket like 7 inches tall and 5 inches wide and had cutouts of John LeClair and Eric Lindros facing each other since they played for USA and Canada respectively… was freakin’ awesome.

  3. AT&T Park started as Pac Bell Park, then quickly changed to SBC Park, and is now AT&T Park, in the course of 10 years or so….
