Riley-Cote

According to Frank Seravalli of the Daily News, Riley Cote retired this afternoon. He will remain with the organization as he was officially named an assistant coach for the Adirondack Phantoms upon retirement.

Riley Cote played in 156 games with the Flyers, scoring only one career NHL goal. Although his job was to be a fighter, he retires with a 17-34-14 fight record, which is far from impressive. His role with the team became diminished in recent years despite signing a three year contract prior to the 2008-2009 season. The widely-panned signing of Jody Shelley all but assured that he would have been buried in the minors this upcoming season.

Most Flyer fans will remember him for his knockout on Andre Roy of the Tampa Bay Lightning on March 6, 2008 and his hot (now ex) wife, Holly.
