Danny Briere Receives Three Game Suspension

Danny Briere received a three game suspension for his cross-check to the head of Frans Nielsen.  It will also cost him $237,804.87 in salary.   Yikes.

"Nielsen called me a few expletive words and didn’t appreciate that I was doing that,” Briere said, “and the face-off before he did the same thing to me – he came over with his stick, had me in a headlock, so I didn’t know what he was doing. I just wanted to keep my hands high and try to protect myself.”

  1. 3 games seems excessive. he’s been suspended before, so maybe theyre trying to teach him a lesson, but still seems a little much. the third game will be an islanders rematch on saturday, so more likely the nhl gave 3 to keep him out of the line-up that night.

  2. I was at that game and the Islander’s were just wailing on him any chance they got, at some point you gotta defend yourself and he just did it at the wrong time when everyone was watching.
