This image (from RememberTheSpectrum.com) was taken at 3:00 P.M. today- Day 3 of the supposed final demolition. The crane is picking it apart like a crow chomping on roadkill. Poor Spectrum.

Really, the America's Greatest former Showplace is not unlike Jamie Moyer: Both are around 50-years-old, have seen one major championship, and, despite catastrophic injury, are hanging around longer than they should. Sad, really.

If the Spectrum attempts a comeback in 2012, I'm going to be really freaked out.

Haha nah I wasn’t gonna say Wings or Phantoms. I was counting Sixers despite not actually taking it at home. You make a valid point though.
    Did Kixx win any championships??

I’m old enough to have seen a ton of events there including Fluers playoffs. I’m 27, but yeah, not a part of that concert going drinking with friends stage

Good analogy, laddie. They’re being disrespectful to the old girl. Give her a viking funeral (or whatever-the-f*ck you call it)!
Don’t forget the exhibition game between the Flyers and the Soviet Red Army Hockey Team (did they have a name?) in the year of the US Bicentennial. In my view that was the beginning of the end of the Cold War, not that President Reagan’s “Mr Gorbachev, tear down this wall” bullshyte.
Not that Wikipedia’s accuracy is explicitly trust-worthy, but here are her “notable events”:
