Last week I picked apart John Miller's column that said pitchers and catchers reporting to spring training was not that big of a deal. In the grand scheme of things, he was right. But as I mentioned then, spring training plays into our irrational desire for something, anything baseball.

We wanted to see the pitchers together. We wanted to see the gang back together.

It was cool for about three seconds. After first getting a glimpse of “All That and a Cup of Joe” (can’t take credit for that) on the podium at Bright House Field, it became apparent that we need to watch baseball real soon.

Not one of the pitchers has a personality. Except for maybe Cole, but he’s weird, so… the problem is that there’s nothing to ask. The Phillies are so good, so well-rounded, that there really are no pressing questions.

The pitching staff can only be glorified so much. And since they hate talking about themselves, that leaves very little else to cover. We all know what each player, coach, trainer, and clubhouse attendant was doing when they found out the Phillies signed Cliff Lee. That’s out.
